오늘의 표현: Jane is not the brightest crayon in the box.(Jane은 머리가 별로 좋지 않다.)

not the brightest crayon in the box는 an unintelligent person(영리하지 않은 사람)을 묘사하는 표현입니다.

머리 나쁜 얘기만 하니 기분이 우울하군요. 무언가를 아주 잘하는 사람(a person who is very good at something)을 가리키는 짧고 재미있는 단어를 정리해 보죠! wiz는 그 앞에 단어가 붙어 쓰이는 경우가 많습니다. 이 단어는 wizard(마법사, 전문가)에서 유래된 단어입니다! wiz는 어느 분야에 현란할 정도로 능숙한 사람(someone who is dazzlingly skilled in any field) 또는 전문가(expert)를 말합니다. ∼wiz 형태로 많이 쓰입니다. 즉, a financial wiz(재무의 천재) 형태로 쓰입니다. 수학 천재는 a math wiz라고 할 수 있죠.

(ex) A math wiz has the talent to solve the questions in this quiz/test.(수학 천재는 이 퀴즈를 풀 수 있는 재능을 가지고 있다.)
